IAM - international art moves
... a new project of the OSTRALE
The concept of the project “IAM International Art Moves” of the OSTRALE is to build up cooperations during the next years especially with International Art Schools and Academies to create modules within the OSTRALE festival which represent both the artistic qualities and best talents of the participating Art School and a qualifying element of curatorial know how to be implemented into the studies of each School. The OSTRALE offers a splendid basis to learn all aspects of curatorial and management tasks in an upcoming contemporary international festival of remarkable size.
The International partners of the IAM network shall get a kind of
display window at the OSTRALE of their actual “production” which usually
only can be seen in occasion of open days on site. Implemented in an
International art festival the students will become ambassadors of their
Academy and at the same time part of an international competition on
highest level. As well it is the idea to integrate it as practical
curatorial studies and research into the particular studies of each
participating Artschool.

During the following years a permanent exhibition during the year by the
participating Art Schools (each partner for one month) shall happen and
at the occasion of the OSTRALE festival a kind of “best of” the single
exhibitions of the Art Schools will be shown which should be selected by
a jury consisting of representatives of the participating partners. So
in the end the network becomes a permanent common institution.
Dr. Martin Müller: "It was amazing for us to learn that the OSTRALE is already so well known internationally that prestigious academies f.e. from Asia felt really honoured to be invited to the international art festival in Dresden and to built up a long-term partnership."
In addition the OSTRALE has planned to develop a particular project
website „www.international-art-moves.net“ which will be designed as a
social community of the participating Art Schools. It shall show the
progress of the respective student´s project development and be also a
communication platform between the IAM partners. The web project shall
start before the opening of the OSTRALE´011.

In the meantime there are already partners of the IAM network from
Slovakia, Croatia, Finland, Estonia, Poland, The Netherlands, USA,
Israel, Spain, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, The Philippines,
Singapore, Thailand, Hongkong, Papua New Guinea, Guam, Australia and New Zealand.
Dr. Martin Müller: "After the extension of the festival´s duration this year to two
months we want to achieve a permanent stimulation during the year of
the exhibition spaces by the IAM project. This is similar to the
cultural educational center of the OSTRALE which had a splendid
start last year at the OSTRALE´010 and which is developing a
European network with a lot of exciting cooperations in the
meantime."
