Curators
An international team of curators is responsible for the exhibition concept. The artistic director of the OSTRALE chooses the team of curators via a selection process. With this method a thorough choice of curators and artists can be assured, which benefits the high quality standard and the representativeness of the exposed artwork.

Andrea Hilger
née Moser 1970 in Leipzig, finished her medical professional studies in 1989 and started afterwards the studies of Labanotation and Improvisation for dance and choreography in Vienna as well as from 1994 on painting and graphic arts at the “Hochschule für bildende Kunst” in Dresden. At the same time she developed as a freelance artist in choreography, stage design and illumination art. In 1999 she founded the company “Tanzart” in Dresden. Since 2007 she creates graphical illumination projections with her company “Hillumination”. She worked and still works as a dancer, choreographer, illumination artist and visual artist for numerous big theatres and museums like the opera in Kiel, the “Staatstheater Cottbus”, the Semper Opera and the “Festspielhaus Hellerau” in Dresden, the “Landestheater Coburg”, and galleries like the “Deutsches Hygienemuseum”, the “Kunsthaus” in Dresden, the gallery “am Bollwerk” in Neurupin. Together with Mike Salomon she developed the vision of a contemporary centre of arts, which has been initiated with the first international art exhibition OSTRALE 07 in 2007. Director of the OSTRALE since 2007. 2011 Hilumination of the Berliner Kulturforum as opening of the Berliner Museumsnacht.

Dr. Martin Müller
born 1961 in Emmerich, studied history of arts, philosophy and German language and literature
studies at the university of Cologne. At the same time he worked as a freelance artist. In 1988 he finished his studies (M.A.) and started working as an artist and communications designer in Cologne. From 1989 to 1993 he wrote is dissertation „Wie man dem toten Hasen die Bilder erklärt: Schamanismus und Erkenntnis im Werk von Joseph Beuys“ (“How to explain the pictures to the dead rabbit: Shamanism and cognition in the opus of Joseph Beuys”) with Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Peter Ludwig at the university of Cologne. Promotion (Dr. phil.) in the year 1993 at the university Cologne, from 1993 to 2007 director of the Pan Kunstforum in Emmerich. 2007 foundation of the border crossing art-, culture- and network management “culture.net”. from 2007 to 2009 visiting professor for contemporary European art at the University of Derby (GB), School of Art and Design; 2009 visiting curator for the OSTRALE’09; since 2010 director of the OSTRALE, 2010 founder of the international Art Academy network „IAM – international art mooves“; 2010 visiting professor at the Marmara University Istanbul/Turkey.

Benjamin Fleig
